Walls

First, think of the Walls.  If you are going to paint use a semi-gloss latex paint as this will be easier to clean from your little one’s hand marks.  There are great colors to coordinate for a Construction room.  Primary colors of blue, green, yellow, red or a sand/taupe paint color can make the room lots of fun. You can paint each wall a different color or divide the wall into two colors.

Murals
There are murals that can be personalized with your child’s name.  In the sign you can have your child’s name with  At Play or At Work.”  In addition, these murals can made into three sizes a poster size, chair rail or full wall to accommodate your child’s room.  In this mural all the construction vehicle are primary colors of blue, green and red with lots of dirt being moved.  Or there is a construction mural of a town that is available in a chair rail size.

Cut Outs
One can use the Construction Zone Cut Outs to add construction signs to your child’s room.  The signs are roughly 15” high and they have Stop Signs, Railroad Crossing Signs, Interstate Signs, and Road Signs etc.  One idea is to paste them to a piece of wood and suspend them from the ceiling or use a collage of pictures on the wall for a dramatic effect.

Wall Stickers
Construction wall stickers are ideal for applying to the walls, a piece of furniture or even glass.  There are cement trucks, cranes, diggers, dump trucks and a variety of work zone signs.  They are peel and stick; repositionable and reusable which are great for any construction room.

Borders
If you need construction borders then there are wallpaper borders and peel and stick borders that can transform a room quickly.  Borders can be used on the top of the wall, middle of the wall or three quarters up the wall.  Here is one idea for a border use extra border to decorate boxes or play boxes or cut out the construction vehicles and use them to decoupage old picture frame or piece of furniture.

Window Treatments

Window treatments can be simple or complex.  Here are a few ideas:  Make a cornice board to fit the window and cover it with padding and material that matches your décor.  Use a dark gray fabric and use white fabric paint to put white strips like a road.   Look for window rods with decorative construction vehicles on the ends.

Accessories

To make the Construction Zone complete is to add accents or finishing touches.  One can add construction knobs to pieces of furniture, use metal signs on shelves or on the wall, or use chalkboard paint and trim it out with a matching construction border, find a construction rug for the end of the bed.  There is wonderful construction bedding with accessories that will enhance the Construction theme.  One can use construction cones to section off different areas of the bedroom or playroom.
